Affiliate Disclosure how Home Palais earns from product links

Some links on this site earn us a commission. It costs you nothing, and it does not decide what we recommend.

This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements and testimonials, 16 CFR Part 255, which requires a clear statement of any material connection between a publisher and the products it writes about.

In plain terms: if you buy something after clicking certain links here, we may be paid a small commission by the retailer. You pay the same price you would have paid going there directly.

How it works

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link carries a code identifying Home Palais as the referring site. If you buy within a set window after clicking, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. The price you pay is unchanged, and the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin rather than being added to your total.

Affiliate links appear mainly in buying guides, where the point of the page is to help you choose a product. They are marked so that both you and search engines can identify them: the link opens in a new tab and carries the sponsored attribution that tells search engines it is a commercial link.

Any article containing affiliate links carries a disclosure banner at the top of the page, above the first such link, as well as this page linked from every footer.

Which programs

Programs we participate in

Home Palais participates or intends to participate in affiliate programs operated by the following retailers and networks. This list is kept current as programs are added or ended.

  • Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate, Home Palais earns from qualifying purchases.
  • The Home Depot and Lowe’s affiliate programs.
  • Wayfair, Build.com, Acme Tools and Northern Tool affiliate programs.
  • Home warranty and home security providers whose plans are bought online: American Home Shield, Choice Home Warranty, SimpliSafe and Ring Alarm. The transaction completes on the provider’s own site, never on ours.

What it does not buy

Commissions do not decide our recommendations

Products are selected for buying guides on merit: what they cost, how long they last, and who they suit. A retailer cannot pay to be included, to rank higher, or to have a competitor removed, and commission rates play no part in the order of a comparison table.

Where the best answer is a product we earn nothing on, that is the product the guide names. Where the honest answer is that you do not need to buy anything, the guide says so. Our cost guides regularly conclude that a repair is not worth making, which is not a conclusion that maximizes commission.

We do not accept payment for a positive review, and we do not publish reviews written by manufacturers.

Not lead generation

Affiliate links are not lead forms

An affiliate link sends you to a retailer. It does not send your details anywhere, because we do not have them.

Home Palais runs no quote request forms and sells no contact information to contractors or lead brokers. When a guide points you toward a company that quotes work, you go to that company’s site and deal with them directly under their own privacy policy.
